The Met was notified of his disappearance at 8.15am and took “immediate action” to track down the food delivery van.

At some point between 7.32am and 8.37am (much likely closer to the latter), Khalife jumped out from underneath the van and was spotted by an eyewitness near Wandsworth Roundabout.

They spoke to the driver and carried out a search, which revealed strapping on the underside of the van.

Although Khalife was not found at the address, further reports from members of the public saw officers redeployed to Chiswick, west London.

A reward of £20,000 was put on offer for any information that would help lead to Khalife’s recapture.

Around 9am on Saturday the Met confirmed officers were “focusing their efforts” in and around Chiswick.

Police vans and cars were present in Church Street, Chiswick Lane South and Pumping Station Road.

The force confirmed Khalife had been seen on Spencer Road, with the last confirmed sightings on Church Street and Chiswick Mall.

At 10.41am police arrested Khalife after a four-day search.

He was apprehended by a plain-clothes officer who pulled him off a push bike on a towpath next to a canal near Rowdell Road in Northolt, west London, having been on the run for 75 hours. He was then taken into custody.

Police said officers were deployed to that area intentionally, after reports from the public and information from their own investigation.
